Walking changes the way people experience a city. At City by Foot, we care about the sights, smells, tastes, textures, and sounds of what’s around.
Too often the focus is comfort, relegating history to convenience. We pride ourselves on being present and the feeling that- Here we are, today, now.
Who is City by Foot?
Despite LA‘s notoriety as a shining global icon, many locals maintain an bland view of the kingdom of tiny nations that is LA County. From Agoura Hills to Whittier, there’s endless pockets of LAC to discover and explore. Did you know there used to be an open-to-the-public lion farm in El Monte? Or that nazis once tried to take over Hollywood, the world’s biggest propaganda machine in the 1940s? If you said no, but find yourself intrigued, then there‘s a place for a tour in your future.
The city of LA and by extension, the county, is made by and for its residents- not for tourists and not for people whose 2nd, 3rd, or 10th home is within its borders. The more its citizens learn about where they live and feel a subsequent sense of pride for their home, the more people will concern themselves with local issues and ultimately pave the path to a better place to live. As we’ve always known but maybe not realized, the city beneath our feet is our responsibility.
